Oak, wool, and one wall of glass.
Everything you touch is either oak or wool. The floor is a single run of smoked oak laid the long way, so the boards pull toward the water; the joinery is the same timber, unlacquered, and it will darken over the years it is here. Storage disappears into the wall behind the bed — there is no wardrobe standing in the room, because the room is not wide enough to lose a metre to one. Lighting is on three circuits and none of them is overhead: a reading lamp at each side of the bed, a low wash along the balcony threshold for the evening, and the bathroom on its own so one of you can be up at six without waking the other.
East-facing, for first light across the shoreline. Full-height glazing draws the weather inside — mist, rain, and the long alpine dusk each become part of the room.
